ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Tigers will take on the University of Massachusetts Saturday, Sept. 27.
Mizzou is coming off of its first win in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), beating South Carolina 29-20. The win placed the Tigers third in the conference and No. 20 in the Top 25 rankings. Every side of the ball was spot on, but can they stay consistent this week?
Hardy for Heisman?
This has been the main topic in the college football world. Is it too early to say this? Maybe; but the numbers don’t lie.
Sophomore running back Ahmad Hardy had another week of running like a mad man, rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown. This has been a major threat to other teams in the last four weeks, when facing the Tigers.
Defensive Takeaways
Although the defense held their own against South Carolina’s run game, quarterback LaNorris Sellers found a week spot in the secondary.

The Gamecock’s quarterback threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers. But the defensive line stopped the run, forcing minus nine on the ground against South Carolina.
The Tigers’ defense came into the second half with a chip on their shoulder, forcing the Gamecocks to go three-and-out twice to seal the game. The defense had a total of eight tackles-for-loss and five sacks.
Homecoming
The Tigers are preparing for its homecoming matchup against the University of Massachusetts (UMass). UMass is going into this matchup 0-3, coming off of a 47-7 loss against Iowa.
This will be the second time these two teams have played each other. The Tigers won the last meeting in 2023, when they beat UMass 45-3.
Game time will start at 6:30 p.m. at Faurot Field.
