ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Energizer Park will host Olympic soccer tournament games in 2028, according to Olympic organizers.

The announcement came on Tuesday, listing St. Louis with other metropolitan areas in the United States that will also host matches.

St. Louis CITY SC CEO Carolyn Kindle released a statement on the announcement:

“We are thrilled to be part of bringing back Olympic competition to St. Louis. Being selected as an LA28 Olympic venue is an extraordinary moment for our club, our city, and our community.

“Our vision was always to build a stadium worthy of hosting the world’s most popular game at the highest level. This selection reflects our best-in-class stadium, the strength of our operations, and the passion for soccer that defines St. Louis.”

St. Louis will host group stage and knockout matches leading up to the gold medal games in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl Stadium.

“Bringing Olympic Football group stage and knockout matches to stadiums across the United States means more fans will witness this global event and experience the Olympic spirit firsthand,” said Shana Ferguson, LA28 Chief of Sport and Games Delivery Officer. “With the LA28 Ticket Draw for all Olympic sports on the horizon, we’re inviting global Football fans to register now for a chance to secure their tickets to history in the summer of 2028.” 

Along with St. Louis, New York, Columbus, Ohio, Nashville, Tennessee, San José, California, and San Diego, California, were also announced to host Olympic matches.

St. Louis City Mayor Cara Spencer released a statement on the Olympic games coming to Energizer Park:

“Thank you to the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games team who saw Energizer Park, the home of City SC, to be known as St. Louis Stadium for all LA28 purposes, as a perfect venue for Olympic Football (Soccer) matches. The award-winning 30-acre site is the largest urban professional sports campus in the U.S. We look forward to showing it off!

“Sports bring us together and every 4 years, we pause and celebrate. In 2028 our city will have a lot to cheer about!”
