ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC fell 3-0 to the LA Galaxy in its second match in the 2026 Coachella Valley Invitational after allowing three goals in the second half.

Last weekend, CITY SC defeated Austin FC 1-0 thanks to an early goal by Simon Becher.

Today’s match against LA marked a reunion between CITY and former striker João Klauss, who signed with the Galaxy in January.

The second of CITY SC’s Coachella Valley Invitational matches started off aggressively.

CITY SC midfielder Cooper Forcellini earned a yellow card within the first three minutes of the match after clipping an LA player on the leg during a tackle.

Both teams were finding opportunities in the first half. And LA nearly pulled ahead around the 26th minute with a shot that bounced off the left goal post.

Led by Célio Pompeu and Brendan McSorley, St. Louis saw several near chances in the final 15 minutes of the half. But after the first 45, the match was still scoreless.

LA came out of the break with a fast start, forcing two saves by CITY substitute goalkeeper Lucas McPartlin within the first three minutes.

And soon after, in minute 54, Galaxy forward Ruben Ramos Jr. found the back of the net to give LA a 1-0 advantage.

Just six minutes later, LA’s Matheus Nascimento added to their advantage with a near-post strike to make it 2-0 just before the 60-minute mark.

And just before the final whistle, LA would find its third goal in the second half to end the match 3-0.

Next, CITY will play in a closed-door friendly against DC United on February 14 before returning home to prepare for the start of the MLS season.
