ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC midfielder Indiana Vassilev made his first-ever start for the U.S. Men’s National Team Wednesday night.
In just his second cap as a member of the national squad, the 23-year-old played nearly 70 minutes of the United States’ friendly against Costa Rica, which resulted in a 3-0 victory for the U.S.
Vassilev was slotted in at right midfield and finished with 41 touches, an 85 percent pass rating, and was 3 for 3 on tackle attempts. He was replaced by Maximilian Arfsten with just over 20 minutes left in the match.

The U.S. took an early one-goal lead thanks to Vancouver Whitecaps striker Brian White in the 20th minute. Caden Clark and Patrick Agyemang added to the score sheet in the second half to put the game out of reach.
This made the U.S. two for two in their January camp.
Next, they’ll face Panama in the CONCACAF Nations League on March 20.
