ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC announced Thursday that it has officially signed forward and Saint Louis University alum Simon Becher.

The club is exercising the purchase option included in Becher’s original loan agreement with Danish First Division side AC Horsens, paving the way for a permanent transfer to St. Louis. The former SLU star will be under contract through the end of the 2026 MLS season, with club options for 2027 and 2028.

AC Horsens loaned Becher to CITY in July 2024. The 25-year-old forward finished the season with six goals in 13 games across all competitions.

“Simon has made a positive impact since joining the club last summer, so we’re thrilled to make him a permanent part of St. Louis CITY SC,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “He’s a dynamic forward with proven MLS experience, and his time in Europe has added another dimension to his game. For me, this feels like adding another local product to the team, given Simon’s time at Saint Louis University. He already feels a strong connection to the city and our passionate fans.”

Originally drafted in 2022 by the Vancouver Whitecaps, Becher signed with Whitecaps FC 2 before earning a first-team contract. In his debut MLS season, Becher made noise by setting an MLS record for the fewest minutes needed to net his first four career goals. He finished his 2023 campaign with Vancouver with a total of seven goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.

During his time in the Danish Superliga for the 2023-24 season, Becher scored three goals across 14 appearances.
