ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - The St. Louis Cardinals are riding a five-game winning streak going into their upcoming series with the Washington Nationals, which is the longest winning streak the club has held so far this year.
Last night, the Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0. The shutout win completed a sweep of the Pirates, which was also the Cardinals’ first sweep since facing the Minnesota Twins in a three-game series to open up the 2025 MLB season.
St. Louis now holds a record of 19-19 and is tied with two other teams for second place in the National League Central.
The Cardinals will look to extend their streak in a road series with the Washington Nationals this weekend.
