John Kelly not returning as Blues TV play-by-play broadcaster

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Longtime Blues TV play-by-play voice John Kelly will not return next season, the team and its broadcast partners announced Thursday.

In a release, the team said the broadcasts on FanDuel Sports Network will be simulcast on radio on 101ESPN, with Chris Kerber and Joey Vitale filling the booth.

As part of restructuring, the team said that Kelly’s contract will not be renewed.

Other changes were also announced. Alexa Datt will no longer host Blues LIVE, the pregame and postgame show on FanDuel Sports Network.

Jamie Rivers and Bernie Federko will remain as analysts on Blues LIVE and Chris Pronger will have a greater role on broadcasts. Andy Strickland will expand his role as a rinkside reporter and host Blues LIVE for road games.

Kelly had been the television voice of the Blues since the 2005-2006 season. Kelly, the son of legendary Blues radio broadcaster Dan Kelly, started his career in the Blues television booth before play-by-play stints in Tampa and Colorado.

Kerber has been the team’s radio play-by-play voice for 25 years. Vitale has been a color analyst on the radio broadcasts for the past seven seasons and appears on Blues LIVE.
