ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC has acquired forward Sang-bin Jeong in a trade with Minnesota United.
St. Louis will get the 23-year-old South Korean forward in exchange for $1.6 million and up to $400,000 in conditional cash based on performance incentives.
The club will retain his U22 Initiative roster designation along with his current contract, which runs through the end of the year and includes an option for 2026.
“Sang-bin is an exciting attacking player with great pace and creativity in the final third,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “He brings versatility to our attack, the ability to stretch defenses with his runs in behind, and a high work rate that fits perfectly with our intense style of play. We’re always looking to add young, dynamic players with high potential, and we believe our system will allow him to showcase his qualities and reach another level in his development.”
Before arriving in MLS, Sang-bin spent the 2022-23 season on loan with Grasshoppers Club Zürich in the Swiss Super League. He joined Minnesota United in 2023. During his time with the Lions, he made 70 regular-season appearances, scoring nine goals and adding two assists in 36 starts.
