What to know about the World Cup ticket purchasing process

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One week from Wednesday, the first phase of ticket sales for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be open to fans.

FIFA announced that the entry period for the Visa Presale Draw will open at 10 a.m. CT on Sept. 10.

Tickets will start at $60 for group-stage matches and will increase to as much as $6,730 for exclusive seats at the final.

“Due to the anticipated high demand, FIFA World Cup tickets are released in phases, with the Visa Presale Draw marking the first phase,” FIFA said on Wednesday. “Further ticket sales will be launched in the coming months, giving all fans the opportunity to apply to experience this unprecedented tournament.”

Fans who are interested in purchasing tickets have to register their interest and create a FIFA ID at FIFA.com/tickets. Once registered, fans will be notified about ticketing sale dates and how the purchasing process works.

“With just ten months to go until the FIFA World Cup 26 kicks off, we are excited to launch the first phase of ticket sales for the tournament,” said FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Operating Officer, Heimo Schirgi. “This marks a momentous milestone as we build up to this historic event, and we look forward to millions of fans joining us in North America next June.”

The additional ticket sale phases are as follows:

  • Phase 2: Early Ticket Draw from Oct. 27-31. Includes an application and a randomized selection process. Successful applicants will receive a time slot to purchase tickets.
  • Phase 3: Random Selection Draw with registration shortly following the Final Draw for the FIFA World Cup. In this phase, fans can submit applications for specific matches after the final draw reveals most of the group-stage matches.
  • Closer to the tournament, fans can also buy and remaining inventory on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Kansas City is set to host four group stage matches in the tournament, as well as a Round of 32 games on July 3 and a quarterfinal on July 11.
