Mizzou prepares for Mississippi, looks to bounce back on Senior night

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Tigers are due for a win after taking two losses in a row. This week, they are taking on Mississippi State this Saturday.

Mizzou may be out of the playoff picture, but they are still looking to finish the season strong for the seniors. Last week, they lost to Texas A&M 38-17. The Tigers’ offense was overpowered by A&M’s defense, ruining Matt Zollers’ debut.

Run game

Although the offense couldn’t dominate in the air, they were able to gain ground in the run game. Jamal Roberts and Ahmad Hardy led the team in rushing with over a 100 yards each. Roberts gave the Tigers its first touchdown, and Hardy ran for 25-yards to score as well in the second half. Hardy also breached 1,000 yards for the season.

Zollers struggled to get something going during the game, only throwing for 77 yards. His main target was freshman Donovan Olugbode, who led the team in receiving with 74 yards.

Defensive effort

The Tigers’ defense went toe-to-toe with Texas A&M late in the first half, but things went left in the third quarter. They allowed 464 total yards of offense. Senior linebacker Triston Newson led the defense with 11 tackles.
