ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Saint Louis came out victorious in a thrilling matchup with Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship Thursday night.
After going down 1-0, SLU freshman Jack DiMaria sent a long shot in at the 86 minute to make it 1-1.
The first overtime session resulted in no goals for either side, but DiMaria was able to find the back of the net once again in the second overtime, winning the match for SLU.
SLU will now face No. 6 Indiana in the second round. The Billikens fell short against the Hoosiers earlier in the year by a score of 1-0.
Their rematch is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 23, in Bloomington, Ind.
