Mizzou, Drinkwitz agree to contract extension

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Mizzou and head football coach Eli Drinkwitz have agreed to a contract extension.

The UM Board of Curators met on Wednesday to vote and finalize the contract, which was approved unanimously. This extends his contract through the 2031 season with an average annual compensation of $10.75 million.

The move comes amid weeks of speculation that Drinkwitz was a candidate for the head coaching job at other schools, including Florida, LSU and Penn State, which fired James Franklin in October.

Drinkwitz recently addressed the rumors linking him to other coaching jobs, calling them a “distraction.”

In July, Drinkwitz signed a contract extension through 2029. He is in his sixth season in Columbia.
