ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Sports on 4’s Tamar Sher has been named Missouri Sportscaster of the Year by The National Sports Media Association.
Members of the National Sports Media Association nominate and vote on who wins the Sportscaster of the Year award for each state. In the voting, Sher tied with Art Haines of Missouri State Radio in Springfield.
Past winners of the Missouri Sportscaster of the Year award include Chris Kerber, Chip Caray, Dan McLaughlin and Mike Kelly.
Sher, who has been with the Sports on 4 team since March 2023, is a St. Louis native who grew up a fan of the local sports. Sher hosts Matrix Midwest’s pre- and post-game Mizzou Football shows, The Nightcap on 4 on Saturday nights and Sports Sunday.
In her time with Sports on 4, Sher has covered Spring Training for the Cardinals, City SC, the Blues, highlighted St. Louis sports figures and shared stories of local athletes. She is also the sideline reporter for the Saint Louis University Billikens men’s basketball team.

On Monday, in addition to Sher being named the Missouri Sportscaster of the Year, the nonprofit announced that Sportscaster James Brown of CBS, sportswriter Adrian Wojnarowski, Greg Gumbel and Sid Hartman were elected to the National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame.
A ceremony will be held in June to honor the winners.
