KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce dropped hints about a possible retirement during his New Heights podcast, telling his brother Jason he is “officially jobless” and considering his football future.

Kelce joked that his only current employer is the podcast, not the Chiefs, when Jason pressed him about retirement plans during the January 7 episode.

“I am officially jobless, Jason. Actually, this is my only job,” Kelce laughed. “This is the only company that employs me right now.”

Jason pointed out that Kelce remains employed unless he stops playing. Travis responded that, for now, he plans to ‘be a regular human.’

“I think, yeah, just being a regular human for a couple of weeks, maybe a month or so, and try and figure out what I’m going to do next in terms of my future in football,” Kelce said.

Kelce said he has already discussed his situation with Chiefs facility personnel during exit meetings and that team officials know where he stands.

“I think there’s a lot of love for the game that’s still there, and I don’t think I’ll ever lose that,” he said. “It’s a tough thing to navigate.”

Kelce indicated his final decision will depend on how his body recovers during the offseason.

“I think if my body can heal up and rest up, and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21 week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat,” he said. “So I think right now it’s just finding that answer and seeing how the body feels after this game and kind of when it all settles down.”

The comments came during the New Heights podcast episode titled “Offseason Plans, Wildcard Preview & Matt Damon on Brady, Affleck Bromance & Career Odyssey.”
