Cardinals announce 2026 Hall of Fame ballot nominees

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Today, the St. Louis Cardinals announced the modern players nominated for possible induction into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame.

The nominees are George Hendrick, Brian Jordan, Yadier Molina, and Albert Pujols.

Hendrick played as an outfielder and first baseman for the Cardinals from 1978 to 1984. He was a two-time All-Star and Silver Slugger Award recipient with St. Louis, and drove in the winning run in Game 7 of the 1982 World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. “Silent George” ranks ninth in franchise history with 62 game-winning RBI.

Jordan played as an outfielder with the Cardinals from 1992 to 1998. In 1996, he led the Cardinals to the NL Central Division championship and their first postseason appearance since 1987. He played three seasons in the NFL while working his way up the Cardinals’ farm system as a first-round selection in the 1988 MLB Draft.

Molina played as a catcher for the Cardinals from 2004 to 2022. His 19 seasons in St. Louis are second in franchise longevity. He was a 10-time all-star who won nine Gold Gloves, four Platinum Gloves and a Silver Slugger Award. Molina anchored the 2006 and 2011 World Championship teams and the 2004 and 2013 National League pennant winners. He is the franchise postseason career leader with 104 games played and 102 hits.

Pujols played as the Cardinals’ first baseman from 2001 to 2011, then returned in 2022. He was the 2005, 2008 and 2009 National League MVP, and the 2022 NL Comeback Player of the Year. Pujols ranks second in Cardinals history with 469 home runs, 1,397 RBI and fourth with 2,156 hits. The 10-time all-star won two Gold Gloves and six Silver Slugger Awards. He was also a key member of the 2006 and 2011 World Series championship teams, as well as the 2004 NL pennant winners.
