ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC is set to receive up to $725,000 in General Allocation Money from Toronto FC in exchange for the Right of First Refusal for St. Louis-native, Josh Sargent.

According to CITY SC, the club will get a guaranteed $250,000 in 2026 GAM and $250,000 in 2027 GAM for the ROFR.

If a club holds a player’s Right of First Refusal, it grants the club priority to re-sign a player returning to the league. If a club holds this right, it can match any contract offer the player receives from another MLS club to sign with that club.

St. Louis could receive up to an additional $225,000 in conditional GAM based on performance incentives.

Sargent signed with Toronto FC this morning as a Designated Player through the 2030-31 Major League Soccer season.
