ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) announced that a Class 3 Sectional girls basketball game between Highland High School and Principia High School must now be replayed due to a scoring error.
The game was originally played on March 2, 2026, and resulted in Principia beating Highland 46-45.
But, according to MSHSAA, Highland noticed a scoring error late in the third quarter.
Their team’s scorebook showed one more point than the official scorebook and scoreboard.
MSHSAA says that table personnel had initially miscredited a Highland basket as three points instead of two.

And, rather than stopping immediately, they attempted to fix it during live play.
When referees were notified, they reviewed the official scorebook without consulting both team scorebooks, which is in violation of NFHS Basketball Rule 2.11.11.
MSHSAA says video evidence confirmed a scoring error occurred, but because the protest process was mishandled at the moment, it was ruled that the only fair resolution was to resume play at 54 seconds remaining in the third quarter, with Highland leading 34-29, which was when the game was interrupted.
The replay will be officiated by a new crew of referees today, Wednesday, March 4, at Hannibal High School.
All original game conditions will be reinstated, but any stats or conditions after the point of interruption on March 2 will be removed from the record.

Principia is 26-2 this year in Class 3 District 5. Highland is 23-5 in Class 3 District 6.
