SLU’s Robbie Avila named Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Year

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Saint Louis senior Robbie Avila has been named the A-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

The 6′10″ center from Oak Forest, Ill., led Saint Louis to a 27-4 overall record this year.

Avila averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from 3-point range.

He scored a season-high 23 points in a 91-76 win over Duquesne on Feb. 28, knocking down five 3-pointers during the game.

In addition to Avila’s award, SLU’s Trey Green, Amari McCottry, and Kellen Thames were named to the A-10 All-Conference Third Team.

Dion Brown was named to the A-10 All-Defensive Team, and Ishan Sharma was named to the A-10 All-Academic Team.

The Billikens start their A-10 Tournament run on Friday, March 13, as the No. 1 seed in the conference.
