ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Highly-touted second baseman JJ Wetherholt has gone deep in his big league debut.

Wetherholt, who is hitting lead off on Opening Day, went deep in his second at-bat, homering in the third inning off Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen.

Wetherholt was selected by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2024 draft and is considered one of the Redbirds’ best young talents.
