Late goal by Löwen helps CITY SC take down Chicago in U.S. Open Cup Round of 16

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC is moving on to the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals after defeating Chicago Fire FC 2-1 Wednesday night.

After a scoreless second half, Chicago opened things up in the 64th minute.

St. Louis then responded with a Tomas Totland goal in the 71st minute to level the match.

And, just seven minutes later, Eduard Löwen found the go-ahead score for his first-ever U.S. Open Cup goal.

The win also advances CITY SC to the Open Cup Quarterfinals for the first time in club history.

Next, St. Louis will face Houston Dynamo FC in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m. at Enerizer Park.
