ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - University of Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy was shot at a concert in Mississippi Sunday night, the university reports.
Mizzou released the following statement on Monday:
“Mizzou Football student-athlete Ahmad Hardy was the victim of a shooting at a concert in Mississippi early Sunday morning and sustained a gunshot wound. Ahmad underwent surgery on Sunday in Mississippi and is in stable condition. Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans. We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support. A timeline for his return to football activities is unknown at this time. Mizzou Athletics will provide more information on his status when it becomes available.”
Gray TV’s WDAM reports that Laurel Police responded to a shooting call around 2 a.m. Sunday at the Kamakazy Biker Club on Masonite Drive.
Officers on scene found Hardy and another individual suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital before being moved to Forrest General, where Hardy had surgery.

Police say three 19-year-old suspects, identified as Landice Magee, Jvon Sibley and Alvin Peyton, were arrested on the scene, but have not been charged.

Last season, Hardy rushed for 1,649 yards and 16 touchdowns, setting a Mizzou single-season rushing record.
At this time, the school said his timeline for a return to football is unknown.
