KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Three men who left Argentina almost a year ago rolled into town Tuesday, completing a 10-month bicycle journey that covered 10,500 miles through more than a dozen countries.
Their final ride into Kansas City drew riders and fans from across the metro. Miguel, Vicente and Yamandu celebrated their arrival at the Kansas City Riverfront.
“17 countries, 10,500 miles and we’re staying here, so close to the national team,” Vincente Conculini said.
Giving up was never an option, even when conditions became difficult, Conculini said.
“The altitude. Bolivia and Peru. Like, we stayed there in 5,000 meters to the level to the sea,” Conculini said. “And it’s like, the bike is my house.”

On Tuesday’s final leg, local riders and fans joined the group, some hearing about the journey that morning.
Greg Cummins and Jeff Tromans call themselves the unofficial welcoming crew.
“I wanted to help be Ambassador KC for these guys that last leg of their 10,000-mile-plus journey and make them feel welcome,” Cummins said.

Cyclists hope to meet Argentina team
The trio arrived without tickets to see Argentina’s national team but expressed one wish.
“The national team, Messi and the rest, go out and say hello, take a picture, maybe a signature, and nothing more,” one cyclist said.

The new fans said they are now pulling for Argentina in the tournament.
“I’ve not been a big soccer guy, but I’m like, you know what? I think I’m an Argentina fan now,” Tromans said. “So I hope Argentina does well. So I hope they take a victory with it.”
