Keith Tkachuk inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - The man known as “Big Walt” is receiving hockey’s ultimate honor.

Keith Tkachuk will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November, it was announced on Monday.

Tkachuk spent nine years with the Blues after being acquired in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2001. He ranks 14th in Blues franchise history with 427 points and 208 goals.

Tkachuk, a native of Melrose, Mass., was drafted #19 overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 1990. He played in 1,201 games, recording 1,065 points (seventh among American-born NHL players) and 538 goals (third among American-born NHL players).

He scored 50 goals in a season twice and 30 goals in a season nine times, and is one of only four players in NHL history to record more than 1,000 career points and 2,000 career penalty minutes.

“Big Walt” was a five-time NHL All Star and was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. He is the 27th inductee to the Hockey Hall of Fame to have worn a Blues uniform.
