PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. (KCTV) - Ed Sheeran visited England and gave the players a morale boost ahead of the knockout rounds, performing a private concert at the team’s hotel in Prairie Village.
“It’s been a nice little tradition,” Sheeran said in a video posted on social media.
The video shows the Grammy-winning artist performed an acoustic version of ‘Castle on the Hill’ following England’s final group-stage match against Panama played on June 27.
It’s a tradition that dates back to 2021, when captain Harry Kane first invited Sheeran to perform for the team.
“Since the first time I played for the lads in 2021, we’ve bonded, so it’s never a tough crowd,” he said.

The video also shows Sheeran weighing in on England’s tournament chances, backing the Three Lions to go all the way.
“I think it’ll be an England-France final,” he said. “I think when you get to the final, anyone can win and I think it will be us.”
England still needs to get through Norway to advance in the World Cup. The two teams meat on the pitch Saturday, June 11, in Miami.
