ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC will host Sporting KC this Thursday at Energizer Park as MLS action returns.
CITY SC went into the World Cup break on a five-match unbeaten streak, which included a penalty shootout win over Houston Dynamo to advance to its first-ever U.S. Open Cup semifinal.
During its 3-0-2 run, St. Louis got its first victory over LAFC and its first road win against Colorado Rapids. Its most recent match resulted in a 3-0 victory over Austin FC.
The club currently sits in 12th place in the Western Conference and will resume MLS play against rivals Sporting KC.
This will be the eighth meeting between the two sides, with CITY SC holding a 3-2-3 advantage in the series. St. Louis has won three of the four derby matches when hosting.

With an average of more than four goals per match, this first bout of the season has no reason to disappoint.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. at Energizer Park.
