KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Rashee Rice, the Chiefs’ top wide receiver, says he is “100% locked in an ready for the season” after an tumultuous offseason.
Rice violated probation and served a 30-day jail sentence. He was released on June 16.
The Chiefs receiver spoke to the media about his time in jail for the first time at training camp on August 11.
“Learning experience. It was a reality check. Don’t focus on the past, pocus on what’s going on now,” Rice said.

Rice also said he is mentally prepared for the new NFL season and has the “right people” around him at this point in his career.

Rashee Rice tested positive for THC and was taken into custody in mid-May for violating the terms of his probation. The terms of the probation were set as a result of his role in a six-car crash on Easter Sunday in March 2024.
The Kansas City Chiefs wideout was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, a sentence that had previously been issued to him on July 17, 2025, when he pled guilty to a trio of felony charges.
Rice described his time in jail as “mentally tough,” adding he kept in touch with the Chiefs throughout.

“They gave me ways to communicate with my teammates still, as well as my athletic trainer,” he said. “So, I mean, besides the hard times in there, I kept my mind right, watching shows, and as much Kevin Hart as I can to laugh. And then, without that, just communicate with everybody on the outside.”
Rice missed the Chiefs’ OTAs and mandatory mini-camp this offseason. He is recovering from a knee injury, although court records show he was given permission to leave jail to receive treatment at Parkland Hospital during his sentence.
