KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Royals are headed to the Field of Dreams.
Major League Baseball and Universal Pictures announced that the Royals and Boston Red Sox will travel to Dyersville, Iowa, for the 2027 Field of Dreams game.
The fourth edition of the event will be played on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2027.
“We are thrilled to showcase our athletes through one of Major League Baseball’s most cherished events and help to grow the game to a worldwide audience,” Royals President of Business Operations Cullen Maxey said. “Royals territory already covers the Midwest, including Dyersville, so this is a natural fit that provides Royals fans a chance to cheer on the home team in a magical setting.”
Friday’s announcement came one day after this year’s Field of Dreams game, which featured the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins.

Next year’s game will be the third time in Royals history the franchise has participated in a neutral-site regular-season game. In 1969, the Royals played the Chicago White Sox at Milwaukee’s County Stadium because the White Sox had an agreement to play one game against each American League team there.

In 2019, the Royals played the Detroit Tigers at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska, in the leadup to the College World Series.
NBC Sports will broadcast next year’s Field of Dreams game, the Royals said. The Thursday game against the Red Sox will be followed by a Friday off-day and lead into the final two games of the series, which will be played Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14-15, at Kauffman Stadium.
