ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Joshua Báez’s Saturday rookie debut with 3 home runs will stand among the greatest batter performances in franchise and batter history.
Sports on 4’s Tamar Sher spoke with Báez after he made MLB history.
Báez will join Mark Whiten’s four home run game in 1993, Fernando Tatis’ 2-grand slam innings in 1999, Mark McGwire’s single season HR’s #62 and #70 in 1998, Albert Pujols career HR #700 in 2022 and Stan Musial’s five home runs in a doubleheader in 1954 among the most memorable batting feats in regular season play.
Báez became the first player in MLB history to hit three home runs in their first career game. He becomes the fifth Cardinal to hit a home run on the first pitch. The last Cardinal to achieve this feat was Adam Wainwright in 2006.
