CITY SC looks to extend unbeaten run with road match against Sporting KC

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC heads to Sporting Park tonight to face rivals Sporting Kansas City, with an opportunity to extend its unbeaten streak to 11 games!

Last week, St. Louis took down the San Jose Earthquakes in a 3-1 road win.

Daniel Edelman gave CITY an early advantage with a goal in the eighth minute. It was Simon Becher, however, who sealed the match with a brace to increase the club’s unbeaten streak to 10 matches.

The win improved St. Louis’s all-time record against San Jose to 7-1-0.

Becher and Dante Polvara, who led all players in the match with 14 defensive contributions, were selected to the MLS Team of the Matchday - a first for each of them this season.

This week, CITY SC will compete in a second round with rivals Sporting KC. The two teams last met in early July, when CITY SC earned a 3-2 victory at Energizer Park.

Across nine regular-season meetings, St. Louis holds a 4-2-3 record against Sporting KC, outscoring them 21-14.

The match kicks off at 7 p.m. at Sporting Park.
