CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - A new addition to a hockey facility in Chesterfield will be named after Blues icon Kelly Chase.
In an announcement on Wedensday, the Chesterfield Hockey Association said a 26,500 square foot NHL-style practice rink will be named the Kelly Chase Family Rink.
The rink will be an addition to the Maryville University Hockey Center, which is located on Chesterfield Airport Road in Chesterfield Valley. The goal is to provide a three-rink facility for youth hockey and the community.
Chase spent seven seasons with the Blues as an enforcer before he became a color commentator on the radio broadcasts for 18 years.
Chase has since battled leukemia and inspired many with his courage during that fight.

In a statement, Blues Hall of Famer Barret Jackman said: “Chaser is the definition of a selfless fighter. He will literally give you the shirt off his back. He is always willing to help others out, cares so much about the St. Louis community and the next generation of hockey players. While battling his own illnesses, he has shown others what it looks like to never give up, keep fighting and stay positive.”
Groundbreaking on the new rink is scheduled for fall 2026. For more information, click here.
