ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Jordan Walker is the Cardinals nominee for the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award presented by Capital One.

The award recognizes a Major League Baseball player who best represented the game through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field. Each team nominates one player to be considered for the league-wide award in tribute to Clemente’s achievements and character.

“Roberto Clemente’s legacy is a reminder that the impact we make away from the field can be just as meaningful as what we accomplish on it,” said Walker. “I’m honored to be the Cardinals’ nominee for this award and grateful for every opportunity to support young people, encourage them to believe in themselves and help create pathways for them to succeed.”

Walker will be recognized as part of Roberto Clemente Day at Busch Stadium on Sept. 15.

Walker and his mother are the co-founders of Walker’s Winners Foundation, an initiative that encourages young people to set ambitious educational goals and build confidence through achievement. During the 2026 season, Walked welcomed more than 200 students and their families from the foundation’s school-year program to Busch Stadium to celebrate their accomplishments.

Walker has also been a consistent supporter of Cardinals Care, worked with the Katherine Dunham Centers for Arts and Humanities in East St. Louis and embraced opportunities to promote education, leadership and inclusion through Major League Baseball initiatives.

“Jordan Walker consistently uses his platform to create opportunity for young people and to strengthen the communities that support them,” said Michael Hall, Vice President, Community Relations & Executive Director, Cardinals Care. “Through Walker’s Winners Foundation, his support of Cardinals Care and his commitment to education, health and inclusion, Jordan reflects the character, compassion and selflessness that define the legacy of Roberto Clemente. We are proud to have him represent the Cardinals as our nominee.”

Previous Cardinals to win the Roberto Clemente Award include Adam Wainwright (2020), Yadier Molina (2018), Carlos Beltran (2013), Albert Pujols (2008), Ozzie Smith (1995) and Lou Brock (1975), the most of any MLB club.
