ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Mizzou quarterback Austin Simmons and defensive end Daeden Hopkins were named Southeastern Conference Players of the Week!
Simmons completed 19-of-29 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns to help the Tigers defeat rivals Kansas in the Border War game last Friday.
He was named co-SEC Offensive Player of the Week along with Texas’ Arch Manning.
Simmons was also named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 for his performance.
Hopkins, from Hermann, Missouri, recorded 4.5 tackles, including 1.5 sacks while adding five quarterback pressures and a pass deflection to help lead the Tigers to the rivalry win. His performance earned him co-SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

The No. 20 Tigers return home on Saturday, Sept. 19, to host Troy (2-0) for the Memorial Stadium 100th Anniversary Game at 6 p.m.
