KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 13-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan got an autograph from quarterback Patrick Mahomes after her family drove more than 20 hours to Kansas City for her first NFL game.
The Chiefs hosted the Denver Broncos in their season home opener Monday, Sept. 14. Kansas City won 31-10.
Lilyia Eggers said football has been part of her life since she was 8 years old.
“My dad got me into football, so I played tackle football when I was like eight and nine. And I was watching football with him and I was like, ‘I think I like Patrick Mahomes, he’s pretty good,’” Eggers said.
Her father, Bryson Eggers, said Mahomes has been an example for his daughter.

“Patrick Mahomes is a great role model for my daughter. With his family and kids, and seeing him out there was pretty cool,” Bryson Eggers said.
The family arrived at the stadium three hours before kickoff after researching how to get an item signed.
“We got there three hours early because we Googled what’s the best way to get something signed,” said Shelby Eggers, Lilyia’s aunt.
Hours of waiting before the game did not result in an autograph. As time ran out, Lilyia and her family went to the tunnel and held up her poster.
Mahomes saw her and waved. Lilyia had brought two pens and a clipboard, which she placed behind a jersey so Mahomes could sign it. Her family cheered as he signed.
“That was like one in a hundred or one in a thousand, but it’s really a dream come true,” Lilyia said.
