KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - As Chiefs Kingdom celebrates the recovery and return to play of quarterback Patrick Mahomes from a torn ACL, another remarkable recovery could play out in red and gold.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill “remains fond of the Chiefs” as he recovers from a severe left knee injury that included multiple torn ligaments and a severe dislocation.
The injury suffered by Hill happened on Sept. 29, 2025. And while Mahomes recovered to return to play exactly nine months to the day he tore his ACL, Hill’s recovery should have him closer to playing “around October,” according to Fowler.
“A potential in-season signing would make a lot of sense,” Fowler said of the possibility Hill, age 32, rejoins Kansas City for the first time since the 2021 season.

Kansas City’s wide receiver room produced a combined five receptions for 37 yards during the Chiefs’ 31-10 Monday night win over the Denver Broncos.

A reunion with Hill wouldn’t be out of the norm for the Chiefs. Kansas City already reunited with veteran cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, who returned to the organization after two seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN last week, noting the impressiveness of Hill’s recovery so far.
“I do think when he does sign, he will be the kind of guy that will impact the playoff race and will certainly be successful,” Rosenhaus told McAfee.
Hill left the Chiefs in 2022 when Kansas City traded him to the Miami Dolphins in a deal that brought back a slew of draft picks, including a first-rounder that helped bring Trent McDuffie to Kansas City. Hill got a contract that averaged more than $30 million per year with the Dolphins.
The Chiefs currently have $4.5 million in cap space for the 2026 season, according to Spotrac.
