St. Louis CITY SC advances to first-ever U.S. Open Cup Final after defeating Colorado Rapids 3-0

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - St. Louis CITY SC has advanced to its first-ever tournament final after defeating the Colorado Rapids 3-0 in the U.S. Open Cup Semifinal last night!

CITY SC kicked off the scoring in the 32nd minute when Sangbin Jeong intercepted a pass from the Colorado goalkeeper.

Simon Becher added another goal early in the second half, and Alex Mățan made it 3-0 with his first career U.S. Open Cup goal and first career goal for St. Louis.

The Rapids were held to zero shots on target in the second half, and St. Louis earned its clean sheet of the tournament.

St. Louis will now face the Columbus Crew in the 2026 U.S. Open Cup Final on Wednesday, October 21. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Before that, they’ll return to MLS action at Energizer Park this Saturday, September 19, facing Toronto FC at 7:30 p.m.
