KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs punter Matt Araiza made a significant impact in Sunday’s game from start to finish.
In the first quarter, Araiza converted a fourth down with a 12-yard run on a fake punt. In the fourth quarter, after the Chiefs offense failed to close the Raiders out with a 30-27 lead and instead went three-and-out, Araiza booted a ball that was downed by the Chiefs at the Raiders’ 1-yard line.
The punt pinned the Raiders at their goal line on a drive that eventually ended near midfield with a game-ending interception thrown by quarterback Kirk Cousins.
It was his fifth punt of the day, each landing inside the Raiders 20-yard line, and capped a special day that led to the NFL naming him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4.

The 26-year-old from San Diego State has been one of the best punters in the NFL this season, and becomes the second member of the Chiefs to win a weekly award during the 2026 season.
Araiza and the Chiefs will return to play on Sunday, Oct. 18, with a 3:25 p.m. kickoff at Arrowhead Stadium against the Los Angeles Chargers.
