KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs will be without their top two wide receivers when they suit up Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Head coach Andy Reid announced Friday that wide receiver Rashee Rice will not play Sunday as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury suffered in the Chiefs’ Week 4 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Rice suffered the injury during the first quarter of the game against the Raiders and did not return.
He joins Tyquan Thornton as the top two wide receivers in receiving yards for Kansas City who will not be available Sunday. Thornton dislocated his ankle near the end of the fourth quarter against Las Vegas, and has been placed on injured reserve with a chance to return in late December or January.

Without Rice and Thornton, Kansas City’s pass-catching group will rely more heavily on tight end Travis Kelce, third-year wideout Xavier Worthy, and a group of inexperienced young wide receivers in Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen and Nikko Remigio.

Earlier this week, Kansas City signed veteran Justin Watson to the practice squad for some additional wide receiver depth.
Rice did not practice in any of Kansas City’s three practices prior to Sunday’s game against the Chargers.
Head coach Andy Reid also said left tackle Josh Simmons was ruled out for Sunday’s game. Simmons returned to practice for the first time in nearly two months on Wednesday and was a limited participant throughout the week.
Kickoff between Kansas City and Los Angeles is set for 3:25 p.m. CT and the game can be seen live on KCTV5 in our viewing area.
