ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A major mover and shaker in Saint Louis University (SLU) athletics is buying a piece of an MLB franchise.

Richard Chaifetz, the chairman of the Chaifetz Group, has purchased a piece of the San Francisco Giants, the Chaifetz Group announced Thursday.

“I am proud to become part of the ownership group of the San Francisco Giants. This is an iconic franchise, led by a team of outstanding executives and owners,” Chaifetz said in a statement.

Chaifetz is a 1975 graduate of SLU. Chaifetz Arena, the home of SLU Basketball, was named for him. He donated $12 million to the arena project, according to SLU Athletics.

Chaifetz also owns the St. Louis Shock in Major League Pickleball.
